Housing and Aggregation

This project was part of the housing design studio at Northeastern University.  Students were required to analyze and design a housing prototype. This prototype was created for a generic site using only the site and building code as restrictions. Parameters such as parking, density, FAR, and gross area were taken into consideration.

The prototype was then applied to a specific urban site in Boston, MA. This was a mixed housing development containing both duplex units and flats. The idea of interlocking units was explored to minimize the amount of vertical circulation required. The project is part of a larger site plan that raises public spaces on a plinth, giving families a safe place to interact in a neighborhood with a desire for a better sense of community.
